Our History
Founded in 1982 by an insightful team who saw the need for a high-production pressure treating facility in central Florida, Sunbelt Forest Products has grown to become one of the largest and most diverse wood preserving operations in the Southeast. At peak production we are capable of treating in excess of 200 million board feet annually.
We built our facility from the ground up and began operations as a custom treating service for large volume users of pressure treated lumber. Though we’re still providing TSO services to our customers, it is no longer a large part of our marketing mix. We currently sell our lumber to mass merchandisers and large independent lumber yards throughout the state of Florida and the Caribbean basin. Learn more about our export capabilities. We are also a major importer of pine fencing from South America, which we use to provide pressure treated fencing to our customers all over the southeastern United States.
In addition, we have a large remanufacturing facility on site which allows us to expand our product line to include specialty items like balusters, pattern stock, decking and furring strips.
A Leading Innovator in the Industry
In an industry that is constantly evolving and changing, Sunbelt continues to be at the forefront of emerging treatment techniques. We were the first facility in Florida to introduce treating with arsenic-free preservatives, as well as the first in the state to start treating with water repellents and mold inhibitors.
We are currently the largest treater of non-metal preservatives in the United States, using Ecolife, a non-metallic preservative and wood stabilizer offering weathering protection and other environmentally-friendly attributes. We were the first treatment facility in the nation to put this product into mass production.
Sunbelt is a member of the American Wood Protection Association, the Florida Building Materials Association (FBMA), the Treated Wood Council and the Florida Wood Council.
